    Termite Control Knoxville

Termites cause billions of dollars in damages each year in the United States, even more than fires, hurricanes, and tornadoes combined. Their unending drive to feed and survive can wreak havoc on your home and this damage is not covered under most homeowner insurance policies.

Termites are tough, determined and highly efficient. Subterranean termites are the kind we find in Tennessee. They are very social insects that live in colonies beneath the soil. Each colony has three types of termites. The worker does most of the damage to your home. The soldier who protects the colony, and the reproductives. A colony can have hundreds of thousands of individual insects.

The reproductives are the ones we see swarm out in the spring and late summer. These termites don’t cause damage but they are the most common sign you have a colony present.

Termites can go undetected for years, but our trained professionals know the signs to look for.

    Termiticides

Termiticides are pesticides used to control termites. At Heritage Termite & Pest Service we use the following for control of subterranean termites.

    Termidor

    Made by BASF

Termidor is made from a revolutionary new nonrepellent or “undetectable” chemical technology. In numerous trials across the United States and around the world, Termidor has consistently proven itself to be 100% effective in eradicating termites in three months or less, a level of efficacy that no other termite control system of any kind has ever achieved. And, Termidor is proving to be equally effective in keeping termites from coming back.

    Here is how it works.

Whenever a termite ingest or touches Termidor, it, in effect becomes a “carrier” transferring Termidor to every other termite it comes in contact with. These termites in turn becomes a secondary carrier transferring Termidor to every termite they touch, until the entire colony is infected and dies.

    Premise

    Made by Bayer

Premise was launched in the United States for termite control several years ago and rapidly built a solid reputation for superior performance and reliability. As the original non-repellent termiticide, Premise changed the way all of us thought termiticides work and the pest industry soon came to rely on its’ unparalleled ability to clean out structural termite infestations with virtually no callbacks.

    Bora-care

    Made by Nisus Corporation

Bora-care kills and prevents termites & other wood destroying organisms. It provides long term residual protection. Its active ingredient is a borate mineral salt that will not break down over time.

Pest management professionals apply Bora-care to wood, concrete and foundation penetrations where its patented formula kills existing infestations and prevents termites from returning.

University studies show that termites cannot cross or tube over wood or concrete treated with Bora-care.

    Liquid termiticides vs. Baits

A limitation of all termite baits is that they are relatively slower to act than liquids, taking as long as 12 months to control a termite colony. Bait stations are placed in the ground approximately 5 to 8 feet apart around your home. They rely on the termites finding the bait in the ground and if the bait stations are in mulch or wooded areas where other wood can attract the termites, then chances go way down that they will find the bait stations.

With liquid treatments the chemical barrier is put in place around the foundation as well as in the crawlspace stopping termites from reaching the wood in your home.
